I clicked the button at the top left of my screen that says “Write,” so I’m writing. I didn’t think about what I wanted to write before I hit the button, but I think I want to talk about the fact that it’s April 22, and I’m wearing a hoodie. Not the standard wardrobe for this late in the year where I live. However, I am loving it because I love cold weather!I’m always a little sad when the chilly temperatures give way to balmy breezes and what comes with them. Yes, it’s pollen season in the deep south and the yellow devil dust is everywhere. Also, the temperatures are still too cool to use the pool but too warm to enjoy much time outside without breaking a sweat. And deciding what to wear is a crap shoot…
Despite the fact that it’s the time of year when mother nature goes off her meds and can’t decide which season it is from one day to the next, I wouldn’t trade living in a place with actual changing seasons for anything. I love witnessing the world around me morph from bare trees to brilliant green leaves, observing birds and butterflies flutter about amid the blossoms of spring and summer, taking in the fiery kaleidoscope of color as the leaves once again prepare to let go of their branches, and dreaming of a blanket of white covering the earth when I emerge from a cozy slumber.
Okay, that’s enough for my first writing. I have some actual academic writing to do, but this helped loosen up the gears for that effort, so the diversion was very useful!
